Rotary Club of Kampala North restores sight to the blind
At least 142 clients in the village of Namalemba in Iganga district (Eastern Uganda) were treated from eye related illnesses in a Joint medical eye camp project held by Rotary Club of Kampala North and the Rotaract club of Mengo. The camp was followup of a medical camp held by the Rotary club of Kampala North in the village in April this year. A total 250 patients turned up to received this critical treatment from an impressive team of medical volunteers, opthalmologists and optometricits. Sadly, cataract cases mainly needed by the elderly could not be treated and these await a special camp to be arranged later. the There were 250 clients - only 142 could be handled by close of day - another camp in the offing because we still had spectacles and medication in plenty! Sadly, we could not handle cataract cases, mostly the elderly: this waits for a special arrangement. In attendance were Kampala North President Eve Kasirye-Alemu (along with Husband Andy Patrick); Miriam of Rotaract club of Mengo; Emma of Rotaract club of Kampala City; Annabel of the Rotaract club of Lukuli Nanganda; and Aturinda of the Rotaract club of Kyambogo. We also had representation from Kololo Rotaract; Mulago Rotaract; a Rotary scholar from Claremont College USA. Other club members present were Steven Munabi; Cissy Mugwanya; Jayne Nakato; Petwa Rwomushoro; Herbert Gudugwa; PDG Tusu and a guest Mastula Kiyemba; Special thanks to all who are making a difference in our communities. Communities around Uganda need our support.
